The short version

I was raised in Amsterdam by parents of Surinamese descent, in a household where money was scarce but creativity was abundant. We were taught two lessons that shaped everything: creativity is more valuable than any amount of money, and character will take you further than any silver spoon.

In 2016, my brother Timothy and I cofounded Mayht. As CEO, I led the company that developed Heartmotion — a breakthrough speaker technology that reinvented how speakers produce sound, delivering full-range audio from devices a fraction of the size the industry believed possible. We built it through failed prototypes, financial pressure, and relentless experimentation. In 2022, Sonos acquired Mayht for $100 million in an all-cash deal.

I served as Director of Hardware Development Engineering at Sonos until 2026. Today I support promising startups and scale-ups in board and operational roles, invest as an angel, and mentor founders — with a particular eye for underestimated builders pursuing difficult ideas.

Why I write & speak

My story gets described as a "boy's dream." But the dream had interruptions, pains, and wake-up calls that changed me permanently. I'm not interested in startup mythology or hype. I'm interested in what it actually takes: iteration, composure, and the willingness to keep pursuing difficult ideas despite setbacks, doubt, and limited resources.

Through 100, speaking, and mentorship, I help founders and builders approach "impossible" ideas differently — to see that scarcity can become a catalyst for creativity, that momentum matters more than perfection, and that you always have enough to take the next step.

"We started with creativity instead of capital, with character instead of comfort."
